Liya DMW Biography
Liya is the stage name of Abdulsalam Suliyat Modasola, a Nigerian Afro-pop singer, songwriter, and poet. Liya is from Osun State, but she was born in Lagos State on April 4, 1999, where she also grew up.
She went to the University of Ilorin to study Yoruba linguistics. She rocketed to notoriety after Davido, a multi-award-winning Nigerian musician and the most-followed Nigerian celebrity on Instagram, signed her to his Davido Music Worldwide (DMW) label, making her the first and only woman to be signed to one of Nigeria’s top record labels.
She made her label debut on the 8th of December, 2020, with the song ‘Melo,’ which was released alongside an official music video starring her record label boss ‘Davido.’ She has previously recorded tracks such as ‘Be My Vibe,’ ‘Trust Issues,’ ‘Abedi Pele,’ and others before signing with the company.
