There was drama at Narok County Referral Hospital
when a 28-year-old man collapsed upon receiving news that his wife and mother of their twins had just delivered three more bouncing babies.
The situation of Francis Gitau,
who was already struggling to keep up with harsh economic times,
worsened by the recently introduced taxes.
He reportedly lost consciousness when his 30-year-old wife, Jacinta Mwihaki, shared the good news.
Speaking to reporters shortly after the incident at the Narok-based health facility,
Gitau revealed his biggest worry was how he was going to feed five mouths with a meager income.
The now father of five said as much as he was excited about the babies,
considering it a blessing from heaven,
his main concern was on raising the kids in the wake of skyrocketing cost of living.
In a related incident reported in early 2018, another woman was abandoned by her husband after he discovered they were expecting triplets.
In both cases, the financially unstable fathers were worried about bringing up the kids.
One of them abandoned the family and left home to unknown destination, never to be seen or heard from again.
The other, Gitau, decided to stick around and do what a man must do to take care of his family.
