Barcelona has identified Mohamed Salah of Liverpool as a possible replacement for Borussia Dortmund wonderkid Erling Haaland.
The Egypt international’s contract is slated to end in 2023, and despite the Reds’ best efforts, the club and the player have yet to agree on a new deal.
The Catalan giants’ prime objective is Haaland, but they have a shortlist of options in case that falls through.
According to Mundo Deportivo, if a potential deal for Manchester City target Haaland goes through, Salah, along with Bayern Munich attacker Robert Lewandowski and Chelsea target Romelu Lukaku, will be the next in line.
Contract of Polish international Lewandowksi, like Salah’s, will end in 2023, while Lukaku only recently returned to the Blues in a £97 million deal last summer, although his future remains uncertain despite a disappointing season.
Chelsea’s future is similarly uncertain, following the sanctions imposed on owner Roman Abramovich, with new owners expected to arrive before the summer transfer window, with preferred bids currently being shortlisted.
Despite the fact that Salah is not a centre-forward, Xavi is claimed to be set on utilizing the Liverpool star as his No 9 at the Nou Camp.

Salah was purchased from Roma for £43 million in 2017 and has since established himself as one of the top players in the world.
During his tenure at Anfield, Salah has won the Champions League, Premier League, Club World Cup, and Carabao Cup.
He has won the Golden Boot twice, and he appears likely to add a third to his collection this season, with a total of 20 Premier League goals thus far.
