NSCDC arrests 6 suspects for allegedly defiling 11years old girl,

The Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Nasarawa State said on Thursday that it arrested six suspects for allegedly defiling an 11-year-old girl at Tudun Kauri, Lafia.

NSCDC Commandant in the state, Mohammed Mahmoud-Fari, told newsmen in Lafia that the suspects had on Feb.16, lured the little girl to a hideout where they took turn in having carnal knowledge of her. Mahmoud-Fari said four other suspects linked to the crime were still being trailed, while two of the six suspects in custody had confessed to the crime. He said the command would not relent in ensuring that all the perpetrators of the act were arrested and brought to justice. The commandant also paraded 12 other suspects arrested in the last one week for various offences, including cultism, theft, vandalism and assault. According to him, five students of Government Junior Secondary School, Mairafi, Lafia, were arrested for cult-related activities. He said a machete was recovered from them during investigation while the suspects confessed to their membership of a gang. Mahmoud-Fari also said three other suspects broke into some shops at the Lafia modern market and carted away valuables. “We also have here a case of assault by a 31-year-old man who beat up his mother for allegedly intervening in an argument between him and his brother,” he added. The commandant pointed out that all the suspects would be prosecuted accordingly as soon as investigation was concluded. He urged parents to always keep a close watch over their children, monitor the company they kept in order not to fall into wrong hands. Mahmoud-Fari said the command was poised to rid the state of criminal elements, especially those in the habit of vandalising public assets.
